Following a year of canceled events and activities, the Galveston Island Humane Society is sponsoring a special new Spring event - “STEPS FOR PETS” – set for Saturday, April 10, on Stewart Beach, from 10am-noon.
Steps for Pets will be featured as both a virtual and onsite walk while raising much-needed income for GIHS. Our event, on Stewart Beach, will follow Covid-19 guidelines and participants will be able to socially-distance using drive-up packet pick up. Participants also have the option of walking on their own on the beach, or another location – if they prefer. Participants who wish to take part virtually may receive packets by mail.
Proceeds raised from this Walk will be dedicated to Community Support Programs designed to decrease the number of unwanted animals that enter GIHS each year while assisting with the health of animals in our community. Programs include spay/neuter assistance and vaccination and microchip clinics. “Many of these vital services were canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, but now it is critical that we again move forward with these programs to ensure we continue to make a positive difference for our community.
