This week's Featured Pets of the Week are Mya & Budda
Mya
Mya is a 5 year old border collie mix who is a sweet as they come. She is very calm and is very content just sitting down next to you. If you are looking for a very mellow and laid back lady this is your girl.
Budda
Budda came to us after she was attacked by a dog, we rushed her to the Animal Clinic, and after great work by their vets she made a full recovery. She has a slight limp in her back leg but if definitely doesn’t slow her down she is still as playful as any kitten here.

Whiskerville Cats Update
We have received many questions, and much interest about our part of holding some of the cats rescued on January 3rd this year from the Whiskerville Sanctuary in Texas City.
As you likely know, 184 cats were taken from the sanctuary and relocated to the Galveston County Animal Resource Center in Texas City. Our operations manager, Lori, and I went up that day to the shelter to assist with the identification, login, and assessment of these cats. While we were in Texas City, our staff shuffled our cats around and set up temporary caging to allow us to assist GCARC. That evening we brought 34 cats to our shelter and made them comfortable for the night. The following days involved vaccinating all cats, feline testing for FIV and FELV, worming, and intense grooming for the health of the cats.
Our volunteer team got busy and assisted with the additional care and much needed cuddling for cats who had not known a lot of contact for a long time. We hoped with the attention the case received and the uproar from the public, this case would have a quick outcome of turning the cats over to the county shelter, then allowing us to put them up for adoption and get them in to loving homes. As most of you know, this has not happened and we are still in limbo. The owner is appealing which is drawing this out, well in to the second month.
